Perhaps
the rainiest PA State Shoot in PSSA history is now "in the
books". Shooters from 32 states contested for 526 trophies. Only
two Pennsylvania gunners broke a 200 straight in Saturday's Singles
Championship, Gary Ehasalu of Enon Valley (formally of Ohio) won
a two way shootoff over Ken Berkhous. Jeff Graupp of Reading
broke 100x100 to win the state Doubles title the day before. He had the
only instate 100 in the event. Robert
Gilbaugh of Lock Haven won the state Handicap Championship
with a 97. Steve Huber of Bethel won the HAA title with a
392x400. It was Huber's first HAA title. Hall of Famer Ken Darroch
of Aliquippa won his sixth consecutive HOA championship and 9th
overall and now trails the legendary Steve Crothers by two. Darroch did
tie Crothers record of 6 consecutive HOA titles. Linda Straub
won her second women's Doubles Championship, the first coming in 1996. Anna
Mae Eberle won her fourth women's Singles title, the last coming 18
years ago. Helen Black won her first state title of any kind by
winning the women's Handicap title.
