Pennsylvania has thirteen 2012
ATA All Americans, bringing PA total
All Americans to 447 since first year in 1927. The cream comes to the top.  Allen Heil of Allentown was the first state selection in 1927. State has 6 first team selections.

Stephanie Sandler, Ian Recla, Sheldon Hostetter, William Hazlet, James Blevins and Richard Hamilton first team selections.  PA leads entire ATA in number of 2011 team selections. Five team members selected for the first time.  

The 2012 ATA All American Teams have been announced and the Quaker State has 13 gunners who earned their way on to the teams. That is one more than last year. That brings the total of Pennsylvania All American to 447, fourth largest in the ATA. 

Pennsylvania led the nation in All American selections for the second year in a row with 13 selections. Minnesota finished with 12 selections while Illinois had 10.

All Time Selection Records, 1927-2012

California has 572 total selections, Ohio 536 and Pennsylvania is third with 447. Ray Stafford made his record breaking 44th appearance, all first team selections. That includes four first team International selections. He has also been selected captain or co-captain eight times.  

Carolyn Elliott and Frank Little lead the state with 14 All American selections. Little was selected 35 times while living in three states as well as International team selections. David George and Rhoda Wolf have 12 each while Mary Christopher has 11 and Walter Beaver were selected 9 times while Steve Crothers had 8 selections, both  during the era of only 10-12 being selected by each year by Jimmy Robinson. Stephanie Sandler now has ten selections. Ken Darroch and Harold Keiser each have 9 selections and Anna Mae Eberle and George Newmaster each have 8 selections.

Stephanie Sandler of New Ringgold, Ian Recla of Mahanoy Plane, Sheldon Hostetter of Lebanon, James Blevins of Gettysburg and Richard Hamilton of Fleetwood all earned first team women, sub-junior, veteran and chair  selections. Stephanie has now earned 10 selections. Hostetter was again named to the vet first team, his fifth straight such selection. Sheldon was a men's second team selection back in 2006. Ian Recla and Hamilton were making their first selections. Stephanie has been selected to 8 women's All American first teams, one women's second team plus one first team sub-junior award. For Hamilton, it was his first selection after 50 years of trapshooting, including the last 46 years shooting ATA targets. For Blevins, this was his fourth selection. He was selected to the vet teams back in 2007, 2008 and 2011.

Frank Pascoe of New Castle was selected to the men's second team, has been selected seven times, the first back in 2001. Charles Bennett Jr. of Montrose was selected to the junior second team, his first selection. Joseph Recla of Mahanoy Plane also was selected the junior second team, also his first selection. Both Joseph and Ian are brothers.

Ian Fleming of Manor made the team for the first time, as a second team sub-junior. Cord Kisthardt of Hummelstown made the team for the second straight year, this time as a junior second team selection.

William Hazlett of Sarver was selected to the vet first team. Hazlett won the Grand American Handicap back in 1980. Philip Criado of Franklin made his third All American team appearance, being selected to the vet second team. This was his second selection. Ralph Challingsworth of Kersey was a second team selection. He has been selected for the senior vet team three straight years, from 2010 to 2012.
