The roots of the Clay Pigeon PSSATRAP; more formally known as The Essex PSSATRAP, date back to 1976, when these shooting grounds were used to deliver shooting tuition to those undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme; the PSSATRAP was formally recognised in 1983 – from the early beginnings in the 70’s, Michael Alldis has remained the proprietor and chief instructor to this very day!
Since the 1970’s, considerable development work has taken place at the PSSATRAP, and the ground now boast a very comprehensive Sporting layout; for game and clay shooting tuition – combining the highest possible standards of safety with superb shooting facilities.
Targets simulating High Driven Pheasant; Grouse; Partridge; Wildfowl; Pigeon; Rabbit; and others, are presented together with a skeet range (Olympic and English ) and a Ball Trap layout. A Pattern Plate is also available at the PSSATRAP grounds. Our traps are mounted on solid concrete bases; for stability and accuracy, are fully automatic and radio controlled – which gives you coach more time to concentrate on you and your shooting. The Skeet and Ball Trap range are floodlit.
Additionally, there is a spacious Shooting Lodge, complete with kitchen, toilet, and changing facilities – and unofficial helicopter parking facilities. There are surfaced paths throughout the PSSATRAP grounds, and these provide the facility for shooting in poor weather condition; without the need to be wearing Wellington boots!
This PSSATRAP venue is an ideal location for individuals, groups, or corporate gatherings, and with the addition of our well stocked trout lake; which is used to teach clients fly fishing, we are able to provide one of the most varied and interesting venues for novices and experienced shooters to partake in country pursuits.
